Avid Pro Tools 9 now compatible with multiple interfaces (RME Fireface Asio)

Avid Pro Tools 9 now compatible with RME Interfaces – GAME CHANGER!!!

This is exciting news for those of us who’ve never seriously played around with Avid’s Pro Tools due to the intimidating and vast array of  hardware that seemed to be required to run it. Now i’m not including the M-Powered versions in the discussion as those light editions almost always seem to be too scaled down to be consider real Pro Tools (maybe it should be called Newbie Tools?).

Pro Tools Digi series 001, 002, 003 etc. were very decent interfaces for the home recordist and demoing, but anyone who’s used them will agree that the Pre’s on those units will never be considered “PRO”, same goes for the AD/DA on those units.
Avid’s decision to open up the Pro Tools 9 DAW platform to ASIO and CORE AUDIO interfaces is one of the smartest that they’ve ever made. I use Cubase 4.5 with RME Fireface UC and i love the solution, but i feel like if i didn’t take one hard stab at Pro Tools, i can never consider myself Pro (ever though i know that it isn’t true). I’ve always loved RME and Cubase, so if anything i would only bring in PT9 for clients who are specifically asking for it, but you just never know!

Avid Next Generation M-Boxes now also support other DAWS as well… cool!
