So many times, in our lives… we lose sight of what true wealth and happiness entails. We sometimes fall into using material possessions and superficial experiences to fill the holes in our souls.

I feel that whenever i travel, whenever i am in unfamiliar territories, perspective comes much easier. Thoughts seem to be automated when we are in familiar environments and perspective is sometimes lost along the way in the daily repetitions. I’ve always believed deep down that the limits to our abilities are strongly co-related with our beliefs in our own potential… often more it is those who’s wills outclass their natural talents that succeed.

I think one of the greatest reasons why i travel as often as i can is so i don’t sever that connection with my soul… it keeps me honest and continues to make me a truly wealthy and happy person.

Georges St. Pierre was dominant yet again at UFC 100 vs. the highly taunted Brazilian Thiago Alves. As a GSP fan, i was definitely nervous going into the fight as Alves has really improved his skills (and got a lot bigger) over his last few bouts. GSP was able to employ some of the same strategies as he used in his last match up against BJ Penn. By crowding Alves, GSP was able to negate Alves’ heavy hands while taking him down as will and roughing him up on the ground.

Gatorade | G is for Georges

Gatorade, who recently signed Georges St Pierre to a promotion and sponsorship deal must be ecstatic with his performance and victory at UFC 100. The signing definitely brings the legitimacy and profile of the sport up another notch. Now they just need to get GSP’s english up to par and voila, Super Marketable-Superstar-Athlete.

I met Erin when i was barely 18… we both played on CBC’s Jonovision Battle of the Bands event (they won, we lost, it was rigged…I’m still a tinch bitter). She’s been working on her own material for a while now, and i just love what she’s doing. Her music always pairs up nicely with video… kinda like coffee and donuts… maybe not exactly, but it makes me feel just as good inside.

Check out Erin’s website www.erinlang.com and her myspace www.myspace.com/erinlang for music and tour dates. I’ll be heading down to the Magpie show… come down and support her awesomeness.

I found out about Fleet Foxes about a month ago and i’ve pretty much be listening to them non-stop since then. They say that musical styles evolve by revolving, what goes out of fashion eventually becomes fashionable again once given enough time to stew, simmer and mutate.

Although many would disagree with my labeling of the group as an “art-rock” band, i see no category to place them in – not that i really need to, but it helps me sort out my itunes playlist

Why I love the Fleet Foxes

New Old Sound that feels like your favorite worn in sneakers

Their vocal harmonies…classic 50-60’s with the same awesome reverb

The production is slick…no slicing or dicing here…and definitely no autotune wabble

Simple, Awesome, Makers-you-want-to-hug-somebody Vocals…

Fleet Foxes – MYKONOS

An absolutely brilliant video…nothing more i can say.

A series of short articles with the hopes of helping clients work more efficiently and happily with their vendors.

Just the other day, during a lunch meeting with a couple of freelance web developer friends of mine, we got to talking about the challenges that we’ve faced while working with clients on projects of the Web variety.

It’s a no-brainer that positive client-vendor relationships, combined with proper work-flows contribute to creating a better end product, but while there exists an abundance of resources available to help Web Project Managers better serve their clients, there aren’t nearly as many complete resources for clients who seek to become better clients by gaining insight into how things work on the vendor’s side.

From my experience, the most challenging part of a Web Development project is almost always managing client-vendor communication and relationship. Whereas web development is a logical step by step process much like math, managing the client-vendor dynamic is definitely not, and never will be.

I decided to create this series of short articles with the hopes of helping clients work more efficiently and happily with their vendors. I believe that this series will also benefit vendors as well to look at things from the client-side.

The Vendor Client relationship – in real world situations

This is an excellent video depicting some of the challenges that vendors face when working with new clients. Those reading from the client-side, don’t take it personally, we’ll get to getting the most out of your limited media spend in future articles.

To me, John Mayer is the quintessential artist who has evolved over every album in both his guitar-playing and song-writing.

John Mayer is Awesome

I don’t recall the exact moment when John Mayer went from being one of my favorite modern pop artists to being one of my greatest musical and artistic inspirations, but somehow he’s managed to weasel onto a list amongst Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke.

To me, John Mayer is the quintessential artist who has evolved over every album in both his guitar-playing and song-writing. It doesn’t hurt that he has legendary musicians like Steve Jordan, Charlie Hunter and Pino Palladino playing in his rhythm section, but i don’t think they would be writing and playing with him if they weren’t elated with his musical prowess. Platinum-selling Grammy-winning albums aside, his biggest accomplishment to date has got to be bringing the blues and blues guitar back to the realm of coolness.

John is currently 7 songs into a new album and using his blog, youtube and twitter to help him keep in touch with his fans and the media alike. If he ever decides to quit music, he might want to consider teaching social media marketing, this guy just gets it.
